The engine for this tractor was manufactured by Holt in Stockton, California and shipped east to Peoria, Illinois for assembly. It is believed that this tractor was used by the U.S Miltary. Later, the U.S. government gave the tractor to the state of Kansas.
Initially, this model was started by the use of a bar fitted into holes in the flywheel. The U.S. army required the tractors have a permanent, attached starting mechanism. The G.I.'s were "losing" the bars used to start the tractor.
Many thanks to Bill Santos, Sr., Doug Balcomb, Bruce Wyman, Bill Shafer, Bart Towery and Todd Spivey for help with this project. Without their help, this project would not have been possible.
This tractor went to Jeff Huff in Honeye, NY.
This tractor is the only machine known to have a hand operated "bendix" starting system. A hand crank, gears and chain drive mechanism were fitted to the tractor.
