1936 No 11 Auto Patrol Road Grader

This is the way that the Auto Patrol looked before we started the restoration process.
Here we see that the beast has been stripped down, and the frame has been cleaned up and painted. The transmission has been completely gone through, painted, and reinstalled. Kinda looks like the skeleton of some prehistoric creature.
The top had to be basically rebuilt. We were able to salvage some of the framing, but we had to manufacture the cab roof.
The engine is the same as that used in the R-3 tractor. The shaft sticking out of the center of the clutch powers the grader controls.
The blade has been painted and is waiting to be reinstalled.
Part of the cab and the blade lift assembly have been reinstalled, along with the grader control gearbox.
Transmission input shaft with power flow down to transmission and double reduction final drive. No differential in here, just huge axles.

The valve job has been completed and it is time for the mounting of the engine into the grader.

The guys are coaxing the engine into place.
Well, there it is. It looks brand new, and ready to rumble!

The Maiden Voyage!!!!

Well, the grader is finally ready to take off for its maiden voyage. The fearless Steve jumps in the cab of the mighty motor grader.
There she goes, out of the confines of the shop!!!
It's been a long time coming but the rewards are starting to be seen...
Here the guys are asking Steve how she handles!
This tractor went to an excavating contractor near Placerville, CA
