1913 Internatonal MW (Highwheeler)

The Internatonal Highwheeler was quite popular in areas that had rutted, muddy, roads because of their high ground clearance and narrow wheels. This truck was purchased new by the Viscia family of Colfax, California and was used to deliver groceries and supplies to Colfax and the surrounding area.

The Highwheeler's body is entirely wood with steel reinforcements throughout. We believe this to be the original color of the truck. At one point in its life it was red and had two seat rows added. The truck was used as a parade vehicle for several years.

The engine is a 20 HP 2 cylinder opposed four stroke overhead valve design. The valve springs look like an enlarged version of the springs used in wooden clothes pins. The engine drives through the two speed transmission (it also has reverse) where a chain drives to the differential shaft. From the differential shaft, each rear wheel is seperately chain driven.

We still have this truck and it will be featured at future shows and events.
